Jean-François Fort was born near Poitiers in 1961. He became a psychiatric nurse in 1986. His relationship with books and travel naturally led him to take an interest in photography.First self-taught and unhappy of his work, he enrolled himself at the photography school of Serge Gal: "Open Image" in the Gard (1991/1992). Then he make a laboratory internship, supervised by Guillaume Geneste, at the "Contrejour" editions of Claude Nori in Paris.
Paradoxically, after that, Jean-François Fort moves away from photography for personal reasons.
From 2006, he made several stays abroad followed by exhibitions in Poitiers, Chauvigny and Paris. Most often, his works are done in collaboration with poets, writers, calligraphers or university researchers.
The human being is undoubtedly the main subject of his images, even when he is absent.
